Project Idea:
Students will represent the various states of matter given only water for a material. The students have to work together in small groups to brainstorm a list of materials and create ways to transform the water. Students will be inspired to learn more about "what goes on behind the scenes" when the matter changes. Students will read a variety of informational texts on states of matter. Students will collect research, in small groups, from the internet using NCWise OWL to determine what causes the changes in states of matter. Each student will create an informational brochure on the research collected. In the brochure, students will also be required to apply the information they have learned to a certain occupation. They will have to develop interview questions and interview a panelist on how the different states of matter affect their career.
